This would provide longer life to the road as there will be no need to dig out the road for repair works by these departments.

Jamali said besides this would add beauty to the historical place as thousands of visitor including foreigner visit the site.

The 24 inches old rainwater service has been repaired in order to avoid any huddle in the smooth flow of sewage. However, a new 18-inch diameter line has also been built running from Old Customs House to Charya Chowk.

New sewerage system has also been built with nearly 52 manholes and now sewerage line is around 1,000 feet long.

He said the project and giving fanciful look to this area was the brain child of Collector Syed Tariq Huda, who worked and got involved his people for the completion of this project.

“This project is a gift to the people of Karachi from Huda in particular and from Customs House in general.
