TAIPEI: Taiwan-based fingerprint sensor supplier Egis Technology (Egistec) has reported October revenues surged 84.7% on month to NT$301 million (US$9.4 million).
Egistec’s cumulative 2016 revenues through October totaled NT$1.09 billion, rising 188% on year.
Egistec’s fingerprint sensor shipments have expanded significantly for smartphones in the fourth quarter of 2016, with orders placed by Samsung Electronics and China’s brand handset vendors such as ZTE, according to market watchers.
Egistec’s revenues for 2017 are expected to hike significantly with profits set to hit record-high levels, said the watchers.
Also engaged in the fingerprint sensor market, Elan Microelectronics and FocalTech Systems have both cut into the supply chains of China’s brand handset vendors and are expected to report brisk revenue results for the fourth quarter, the watchers indicated. Fingerprint sensors will also play a new growth driver for both companies, the watchers said.
