FORT LAUDERDALE: A 3,000-year-old Egyptian mummy has stuck at airport after US customs stopped it on its way to West Palm Beach for a museum exhibit.
Sources said that the extended stay at Miami International Airport will not affect the Oct. 11 opening date of “Afterlife: Tombs and Treasures of Ancient Egypt.”
However, the prolonged stay may endanger a medical scan of mummy which museum arranged at a local hospital, which is aimed at determining how the mummified 4- to 8-year-old girl died. “The mummy has not caused the delay; rather, several ivory pieces caused the delay that was boxed up with it for the flight to Miami from Asia, where the exhibit just completed a wildly popular tour.
