The administration’s 2014 Metropolitan Area Export Overview reports that goods exports from the El Paso region increased nearly 40 percent–or by $5.7 billion– from 2013 to 2014. The report ranks El Paso as the No. 17 metro area in goods exports in the United States.

The record growth in exports show how innovative businesses are working to expand their global market share while helping meet worldwide demand for high quality, ‘Made in USA’ goods,” Robert Queen, acting director of International Trade and Services of the U.S. Commercial Service in El Paso, said in a statement.

If you’re not exporting, you’re missing out on the consumers who live outside of the United States,” Queen said.

The report indicates that goods exports in El Paso increased for the fifth consecutive year and was one of about 140 area to reach record export levels last year.

El Paso sent 92.8 percent of its goods exports to markets where the United States has trade agreements. Mexico, Canada, Belgium, China and Honduras were leading destinations for El Paso’s exports, according to the report.
