ISLAMABAD: National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) said that the electricity shortfall has increased to at least 5000 Megawatt (MW) due to increasing demand as the demand of electricity has surged to 13700 megawatt in the country with the start of summer season.
According to NTDC sources, the total demand for electricity has soared to 13700 MW against the supply of 9000 MW. As a result, rural areas are facing ten hours of power cuts while there is loadshedding of up to 6-8 hours in urban areas.
Loadshedding duration will decrease in the next few days as the power generation from hydel sources improves, sources added.
