Eight inspectors facing inquiry for attempting to commit fraud in property tax

ISLAMABAD: Eight inspectors of Excise and Taxation Department Rawalpindi appeared in the office of director excise Rawalpindi for explaining their position.

These inspectors are facing inquiry under the charges of fraud as they had sent property tax notices to the citizens of Rawalpindi with illegal amounts. According to sources, eight inspectors of Excise and Taxation Department Rawalpindi, including Riaz Virk, Chaudary Khalid, Raza Shah, Fayaz, Rasheed Dogar and Raja Aslam, were found involved in sending extra fees of property tax notices to citizens of Rawalpindi. After this, the department transferred them in other stations and also registered FIRs against them.

But after some time these inspector transferred back to Rawalpindi station.  The Excise department also held an inquiry under the supervision of ETO Malak Perviz. In the inquiry no charges were proved against all these inspectors.

Now all these inspectors were appeared in the office of Director Excise Rawalpindi office to explain their position verbally.  Sources added that the Director will decide about these inspectors in next two days.
