An environmental group fighting the expansion of the Enbridge pipeline network is making stops in the Twin Ports this week.
The Enbridge Tar Sands Resistance Tour spoke at UWS in an effort to address their concerns about the pipeline with different communities.
At a cost of $2.6 billion, the Enbridge Sandpiper pipeline would deliver Bakken light crude oil to refineries in the Midwest and along the East Coast. The group calls it an “invasion” of fossil fuel.
“We are traveling along the pipeline corridors to work with communities and campuses to build resistance, regional resistance to the dirty tar sands infrastructure,” said Kendall Mackey. The group is expected to speak at UMD Friday night.
Just last week, a Minnesota administrative law judge gave his approval to the Public Utilities Commission for the proposed Sandpiper pipeline.
