Enforcement-South collects Rs 2.622b as customs duty in July

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate Preventive, Hyderabad, Quetta, Gwadar of Enforcement-South Region and Export (Port Muhammad Bin Qasim) have collectively attained at least Rs 2.622 billion under the head of customs duty in July in this fiscal year 2015-16.

According to details available with Customs Today, the MCC-Preventive collected Rs 1.789 billion in terms of customs duty while Rs 217.29 million was collected on July 31, 2015.

The MCC Hyderabad collected Rs 30.79 million as customs duty and it collected Rs 7.03 million in just a single day i.e. July 31, 2015.

The Exports (Port Muhammad Bin Qasim) collected Rs 15.53 million during July and Rs 9.52 million on July 31, 2015.

Moreover, the MCC-Quetta collected Rs 177.89 million in the whole month while Rs 28.78 million on July 31.

The MCC-Gwadar collected an amount of Rs 181.04 million as customs duty and Rs 19.13 million on July 31, 2015.

The insiders told Customs Today that the revenue collection had been achieved because of untiring efforts of Chief Collector Enforcement-South Zahid Khokhar who encouraged the officials at every stage.

In FY 2014-15, sources said, at least Rs 25.300 billion customs duty was collected with MCC-Preventive Rs 18.686 billion; MCC-Hyderabad Rs 2.601 billion; MCC-Quetta Rs 1.402 billion; MCC-Gwadar Rs 1.654 billion and MCC-Export Port Muhammad Bin Qasim Rs 3.791 billion.
