DOHA: A cooperation deal in the field of information technology and communications was signed by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
Another agreement in the field of defence was signed by the defence ministries of both sides.
The Supreme Council of Health signed a deal with Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare to benefit from Japan’s experience in medical care and insurance, human resource development and medical equipment.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports signed a deal with Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology to exchange visits of experts and share views on matters related to youth and sports.
A cooperation agreement in the field of tourism was signed by Qatar Tourism Authority and Japan’s Tourism Agency to develop, plan and invest in the tourism field while the foreign ministries from both sides inked deals on the prevention of dual taxation and visa exemption for holders of diplomatic passports.
Qatar Rail and a coalition of Japanese firms led by Mitsubishi signed a deal on installation and maintenance of rails and railway systems.
The Supreme Education Council and Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology signed an agreement to encourage modern education techniques.
Nibras Energy Qatar signed a deal on cooperation in electricity projects across the globe, particularly in the Middle East.
Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry also inked an agreement with its Japanese counterpart on removal of trade and investment barriers. Both sides will also exchange information on trade and investment.
Qatar University signed deals with Foreign Trade Council to boost joint scientific research and establish a student exchange program.
The Emir also met members of Japanese Parliamentary Association for Friendship with Qatar, Keiji Furuya, Yorkio Koike, Tadahiko Ito and Tsukasa Akimoto, at his residence and discussed cooperation.
Separately, the Emir received heads of top Japanese firms at his residence. Talks dealt with cooperation and topics of mutual interest.
He also Qatari students and trainees at his residence and stressed the importance of benefiting from opportunities made available to them to enhance capacities and skills and strengthen bridges of relations and cultural exchange as ambassadors of their country.
The Emir also met Chairman of General Council of Japan, Toshihiro Nikaio, also President of Japanese Parliamentary Association for Friendship with Qatar, at Tokyo International Airport.
Later, the Emir left Tokyo at the end of his two-day visit. He was bid farewell by Nikaio, Qatari Ambassador to Japan Yousif Mohammed Bilal and Japanese Ambassador to Qatar Shingo Tsuda. The Emir sent messages to Emperor Akihito and Abe, thanking them for hospitality accorded to him and his delegation.
