LONDON: U.K. pub group Enterprise Inns PLC fell to a full year pretax loss as revenue declined and it incurred financing and other charges but said that comparable income stripping out the impact of discontinued pubs was up over the year.
The company, which has a portfolio of more than 5,000 pubs, Tuesday reported a net loss of 65 million pounds ($97.9 million) compared with a profit of GBP30 million a year earlier, on revenue down to GBP625 million from GBP632 million.
Comparable net income grew 1% in the final quarter, resulting in a 0.8% increase for the full year, the company said.
“Trading in the first six weeks of the new financial year has been in line with our expectations and continues to maintain the growth momentum of last year,” the company said in a statement.
“We aim to deliver positive like-for-like net income in our leased, tenanted and free-of-tie estate for the full financial year,” it added.
