EOBI issues ATM cards for pensioners

ISLAMABAD: Pensioners of the Employees Old Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) would start receiving their annuity through ATM cards from October 1. An official said the EOBI had finalised arrangements to disburse the pension sum through the ATM cards.

He said that the registration for ATM cards of pensioners of Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Karachi, Hyderabad, Lahore, Multan, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Quetta had already started and they would get the sum through ATM cards from October 1.

Biometrics registration of pensioners of other cities would continue at Bank Alfalah till November 30. The EOBI pensioners have been advised to approach their nearest bank branch along with their original computerised national identity card and original pension book for registration.

The pensioners could also contact the EOBI management via helpline 0800-3624 for assistance and guidance. The pensioners having completed the process of biometric registration in Bank Alfalah have been asked to call on 111 225 229 for activation of their ATM cards.

The official said that the EOBI pensioners would continue receiving pensions from designated branches of the National Bank of Pakistan until the new system becomes fully operational. According to the official, the new initiative aims to facilitate the pensioners to evade standing in long queues.
