ABB’s alliance with Ericsson extends the automation of physical, mechanical and electrical infrastructure right to the heart of IT workload management by providing the technology for data centre and cloud operators to optimise IT workloads, saving operating costs while improving reliability and the performance of their data centres.

The ABB-Ericsson alliance will help data centre operators achieve operational efficiencies by reducing the need for capital expenditure; enabling more rapid time-to-deployment of infrastructure resources; and lowering energy and maintenance costs through better infrastructure management. The new platform will be standardised and designed for ease of use, efficiency and sustainability.

Anders Lindblad, Head of Business Unit Cloud and IP, Ericsson explained that ABB was selected as their partner because the Decathlon data centre system was the only DCIM solution that could provide a holistic, real-time visibility and control from service processor to power grid as well as enable the dynamic automation of data centre physical resources.
