ERRA completes 4,873 projects in KP

ISLAMABAD: Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) has completed 4,873 projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa out of a total of 6,887 projects to help provide basic amenities to the people of earthquake hit areas.

According to an official, the completed projects have become functional in earthquake ravaged areas of 2005 earthquake. Giving details of the projects he said, a total of 930 projects have been completed in Abbottabad, 1,035 in Battagram, 273 in Kohistan, 2,045 in Mansehra, 590 in Shangla district.

He said 5,129 projects have also been completed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) out of a total of 7,626 projects. Giving details he said 1,251 projects have been completed in Bagh, 2,864 in Muzaffarbad, 223 in Neelum, 770 Poonch and 21 in Sudhnoti. The projects have been handed over to the concern department for public benefit.

According to sector wise details, among the completed projects there were 2,928 education sector projects, 253 governance, 509 health, 198 livelihood, 1,372 transport, 177 water, 4,544 sanitation, and 21 other area projects had also been completed.

26 educational projects were also completed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Kuwait fund with the cost of Rs 2.3587 million, he said and added that likewise, 11 educational institutions had been completed in AJK including 13 schools in Muzaffarabad, four schools in Bagh, two in Neelum valley. The buildings have been handed over to the concerned authorities. 16 development projects worth Rs 960 million have been completed with Saudi Fund.

Out of whom, 11 educational and health projects have been completed in Mansehra, three in Abbottabad and two in Shangla. Furthermore 11 projects of basic health units, schools and roads have been completed in support with Islamic Development Bank.
