BRUSSELS: The current account surplus of the European Union (EU) in April increased compared with the previous month, first estimate data from Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU showed here the other day.
The current account rose to 14.9 billion euros (about 16.8 U.S. dollars) in April from 11 billion euros in March and from 4.9 billion euros in April last year.
In April, the surplus of the goods account grew to 10.8 billion euros from 4.3 billion euros in March and the deficit of the secondary income account fell slight.
The surplus of the services account decreased to 12.3 billion euros from 14 billion euros in March, while the surplus of the primary income account moved to deficit.
The 12-month accumulated current account for the period ending in April 2015 recorded a surplus of 122.0 billion euros compared with 115.7 billion euros for the 12 months to April 2014.
