EU imposes duties of 6.7-9.5% on import of portion-sized rainbow trout from Turkish

ANKARA: The European Union has imposed countervailing duties of 6.7% to 9.5% on imports of portion-sized rainbow trout from Turkish producers.Turkey’s leading exporter, Kilic Deniz, was slapped with the highest duty of 9.5%.

The three other leading producers investigated,  GMS, Ozpekler and Ternaeben, were imposed duties of 6.9%, 6.7% and 8% respectively.

Combined, these four producers accounted for 64% of portion-sized rainbow trout exports from Turkey to the EU in 2013, according to the European Commission.

A list of 22 producers who cooperated with the commission’s investigation into allegations of subsidies were imposed duties of 7.6%, while all other producers are subject to a 9.5% duty (see table below).

The duties imposed apply to all imports of live rainbow trout from Turkey of less than 1.2 kilos each, as well as to all fresh, chilled, frozen or smoked rainbow trout sold as head-on whole fish of less than 1.2kg, head-off fish weighing less than 1kg, or in fillets of less than 400 grams each.
