HELSINKI: Taxation rules should be applied equally in the EU so that no individual country could create harmful tax benefits to other member states, observed Confederation of Finnish Industries CEO Jyri Häkämies in a statement.
According to Häkämies, both the European Commission and individual member states are responsible for the tax policies. Häkämies said the news on tax planning is not conducive for labour market organisation negotiations. “It is clear that this news would not facilitate efforts for the whole country in terms of attaining the fundamental social contract, but the negotiations have just started,” Häkämies said.
The debate, for instance, on the taxation of Finns who immigrated to Portugal was launched by the Helsingin Sanomat, a Finnish language daily.
