ROME: European stocks ended a choppy session slightly lower Thursday, following another round of talks to unlock desperately needed financing for Greece.
The Stoxx Europe 600 closed down 0.2%, after flitting between losses and gains.
Earlier in the session, the index had briefly dipped by 0.5% after German Chancellor Angela Merkel said European leaders wouldn’t get involved in negotiations and would leave the remaining issues to the finance ministers.
“Based on what I heard today ahead of the meeting of finance ministers the necessary progress doesn’t exist yet,” Ms. Merkel said.
