LONDON: European stock markets climbed at the start of trading on Tuesday, expanding the last day’s gains as London’s benchmark FTSE 100 index won 0.76 percent to 6,833.78 points.
Frankfurt’s DAX 30 gained 0.37 percent to 10,867.61 points and the CAC 40 in Paris won 0.51 percent to 4,651.07 compared with Monday’s close.
At 0802 GMT, the FTSEurofirst 300 index of top European shares was up 0.5 percent at 1,473.10 points.
Europe’s main markets closed higher Monday as Greece’s new anti-austerity government sought support for a renegotiation of the country’s 240 billion euro ($270 billion) bailout in the face of German opposition.
