Even an accused official assigned at BBIA to facilitate money laundering

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Customs at the Benazir International Airport Islamabad has deputed an assistant as incharge at the Detention Counter who is accused of huge money laundering which is under proceeding at the FIA Hayatabad Peshawar. The summons have also been issued against him on 27-03-2018 to prove his innocence.

The sources told CT that the BBIA Islamabad has assigned Fakhar as Assistant Incharge, Detention Counter, along with another ADC to look after the Customs Departure Counter which is against the Customs Act-1969 as a junior staffer cannot be deputed there.

When correspondent of Customs Today contacted Additional Deputy Collector Airport Nisar Ahmad Phularwal to get his viewpoint on the issue of appointment of lower staff, he replied that it is our discretion to appoint the lower staff when needed to supervise the counter.
