Ex-WASA MD remanded to NAB in assets case

QUETTA: An accountability court Wednesday handed over former Water and Sanitation (WASA) managing director Hamid Lateef Rana to NAB Balochistan for 14-day remand while Assistant Excise and Taxation Officer Farooq Shah and his son Salman Shah were sent to jail on six-day judicial remand.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan produced the accused officials before the accountability court on the charges of accumulating millions of rupees assets beyond their known sources of income.

During investigations, it was revealed that former WASA MD was the owner of various banglows, plats and agri-land worth millions of rupees in Quetta, Karachi and Rawalpindi.

It was also unearthed that he had shares in different lucrative businesses and concealed money in different bank accounts of notables. Likewise, during probe into the case launched against assistant

excise and taxation officer, Farooq Shah, it was disclosed that he had illegally made assets of Rs 110 million, which were found beyond his income.

He possesses three banglows worth million rupees in Quetta, a costly plat in Bahria Town Karachi and cash in millions in different bank accounts.
