Excise Dept impounds 635 vehicles, recovers Rs 1.2 million token tax

SIALKOT: The special checking teams of Excise and Taxation Department have impounded as many as 635 token tax defaulter vehicles during a general hold up in six districts of Gujranwala division.

According to the Director Excise and Taxation Gujranwala Rao Shakilur Rehman, the E&T teams checked as many as 3226 different vehicles by setting up special pickets on all the entry and exit points of the said districts , out of which 635 different vehicles were found of defaulters of the token taxes, which were later, impounded by the teams. However, the E&T teams recovered as many as 1.2 million token taxes from several other defaulter vehicles.
