According to sources, the check-posts being operated by the excise and taxation would be no more operational while the operation against smugglers would continue on intelligence basis.

“The intelligence of excise officials be enhanced and those involved in the menace of smuggling be kept under strict watch so that they could be held”, sources quoted the minister as saying.

The sources added that excise and taxation department would enhance its coordination with the Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) of the Pakistan Customs so that fruitful results could be achieved.
