Excise claims many cars ply on Karachi roads with fake registration, number plates

KARACHI: Excise and Taxation claims that many cars on Karachi’s roads are none registered and having fake or outdated number plates including Police Mobiles, their bikes and cars.

According to official Excise and Taxation has written many letters to Police department regarding this matter however no action has been taken by the latter in this context. Approximately more than 2 thousands Forwell drive cars, 533 bikes Toyota cars, pick-ups and Suzuki Pick-up, in use of Karachi Police are included in the non registered vehicles.

On the other hand Sindh Government has to pay millions of rupees to Excise and Taxation department for the registration of these vehicles. While Department has reminded Sindh Police to registered vehicles and change outdated number plates but the latter is not ready to listen the request of Excise and taxation department. A few months ago Chief Secretary of Sindh set up a committee to solve this problem but still the matter is unsolved.
