Excise collects Rs 41.9 million from Sialkot in seven months

SIALKOT: The Excise and Taxation Department has collected Rs 41.91 million taxes during the first seven months (July-January) of the current fiscal year.

As per details, the Excise has collected Rs 14.29 million as property tax, Rs 26.3 as vehicle token tax, Rs 1.3 million under the head of professional tax and Rs 26,900 as entertainment tax during the said period.

District Excise and Taxation Officer Muazzafar Qayyum told Custom Today that the collection was 16 percent more than the collection made during the same period of last year.

He said the department was struggling to collection taxes from non-taxpayers, adding that stern action will be taken against tax defaulters.

Meanwhile, Excise and Taxation Director General Akram Ashraf Gondal has increased the recovery target of Gujranwala region.

According to the details, the target has been increased under the heads of property and professional taxes with ratio 20 percent and 8 percent accordingly.

The regional office was also directed to launch a recovery drive to achieve the target.
