Excise dept starts drive against bootleggers

LAHORE: The Excise and Taxation Department has started strict action against sellers and producers of fake alcohol and venomous spirit.

Many teams of the excise department are active against such elements that are playing with the life of people. Excise teams caught a factory on Tuesday that was producing fake alcohol and arrested three culprits William Maseh, Shahryar Maseh and Alyas and sized hundreds of bottles, packing material and a packing machine. Excise Dept has registered FIR against the accused.

The Excise and Taxation teams are working in the province to control illegal sale of fatal sprit which is being used in production of raw alcohol. Some drug dealers are selling denatured, Mythylated and rectified sprit which is used to produce fake alcohol.Fake alcohol like ponday and kupi is common in Pakistan which is extremely dangerous for human health. The Punjab Government has started a special campaign against the illegal sellers of these chemicals.These chemicals have been allowed to sale only to manufacturers of paints, medicines and other relevant industries but some so-called traders were involved in illegal selling of dangerous chemicals to drug mafia.The Excise Dept has issued licenses of L-17, L-42-A, L-42—J, L-42-D and L-42-B to traders of the chemicals. Now Excise Dept has directed these licenses holders to sale these chemicals only to the allowed purchasers otherwise strict will be taken against them.

The Director General Excise and Taxation has appealed to the public to identify these elements.
