LAHORE: Excise and Taxation Director General Akram Ashraf Gondal has asked the Excise secretary to make the travel allowance of officers and employees equivalent to the employees of the customs and police.
Officials said that travel allowance has not been revised after it was fixed in 1974, adding that a constable received Rs 30 allowance per month, inspector received Rs 75 per month and excise and taxation officer was given Rs 150 per month.
The DG has asked the authorities concerned to increase the travel allowance for constable from Rs 30 to Rs 5000, for inspectors from Rs 75 to 7500 and for ETOs from Rs 150 to 12,500.
They added that the secretary will send the recommendations to finance department for approval.
