Excise generates Rs 86.9m in 20 days of May

KARACHI: The Excise and Taxation Department recovered Rs 98.9 million under the head of professional, property, motor vehicle and other taxes during the first 20 days of May.

Raza Khaskheli, an official of excise department, told Customs Today that the department collected Rs 50 million under the head of property tax while Rs 7 million were collected as professional tax. He said that the secretary excise directed all relevant staff to expedite efforts to generate more and more revenue before the end of the current fiscal year.

Replying to a question, Khaskheli said that 20,000 notices were issued to defaulters of professional tax while excise department is also taking extra measures to collected motor vehicle tax from defaulters before the start of Ramzan.

He said that we are optimistic to achieve revenue generation target  assinged to us by the government.
