Multan: Excise impounds 49 vehicles over non-payment of token tax

MULTAN: The Excise and Taxation Department Multan has impounded 49 vehicles due to non-registration and non-payment of token tax during a general hold-up operation in the city.

The Excise Motor Registering Branch has formed four different teams for crackdown in this regard.

Inspector Azhar Khurshid Khan is leading the general hold-up operation in the city and has monitored the teams by visiting in the field.

The Excise and Taxation Department Motor Registering Branch has impounded 11 applied-for-registration vehicles during the operation, while 38 vehicles were impounded due to non-payment of token tax. A few vehicles were released after the payment of token tax along with penalty equal to double the actual token tax fee.

On clear directives from the higher authorities, the Excise and Taxation Department is taking stern action against vehicle owners who owed tax to the department.
