Excise inspector suspended for property tax overcharge

LAHORE: The excise inspector, Satellite Town D-Block Circle, Rawalpindi has been suspended for issuing overcharged property tax notices.

An investigative team of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed Director Excise Jam Siraj to check all the record of the official.

According to details, the Rawalpindi Excise Property Tax Branch had issued overcharged bills to the residents in recovery of property tax for 2013-14.

The citizens had staged a protest demonstration against the overbilling.

On the public complaints, Shahbaz took notice and directed the officials concerned to initiate departmental inquiry against Excise Taxation Officer Yousuf Virk and formed a team to probe the matter.

The team in the report held Satellite Town D-Block Inspector Chaudhry Muhammad Khalid responsible and suspended him for overcharging the citizens.
