LAHORE: Hundreds of trucks on Saturday formed a 7 km queue at Wahga border due to a slow trading activity.
Trade between Pakistan-India could not be restored completely after six days of a deadly suicide bombing at the border. Only a few cargo vehicles are allowed to go in the yard to unload or load the goods every day after clearance due to security reasons.
Drivers have erected huts along the Grand Trunk Road in the vicinity of the border.
A driver said, “We have been waiting for our turn for four days.”
He added that some trucks were loaded with dry and fresh fruits that could perish due to the delay.
An official said security has been heighted after the suicide attack. There was a delay in trading but safety should be top priority, he said.
On the other hand, exporters and importers urged customs and other departments to normalise trade.
