Excise Narcotics Cell arrests seven drug peddlers

LAHORE: The Excise and Taxation Department has started a crackdown on the suppliers and sellers of fake and poisonous alcohol in different areas of the city.

According to Excise and Taxation Officer Lateef Anjum, on the directions of Director General Excise Akram Ashraf Gondal, a team of Narcotics Cell under his supervision raided different areas and arrested seven suspects on the charge of selling fake alcohol.

On Christmas, especially dozens of drug peddlers started selling fake alcohol in different areas of the city where Christen community is living. In different raids in Sabzazar, Bilal Gunj and Ravi Road, the cell arrested seven suspects and recovered hundreds of bottles from them.

Meanwhile, on the special directions of DG Excise, monitoring of hotels has also been started to avoid selling of low quality and chemical missed alcohol.

It is pertinent to mention here that every year number of people die of consuming fake alcohol, especially on Eid and Christmas days.
