Excise Rawalpindi seizes smuggled items worth Rs 1.66m

ISLAMABAD: Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation Rawalpindi seized Rs 1.66 million of smuggled goods during operation.

According details, Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation Rawalpindi has seized Rs 1.66 million of smuggled goods involving Rs 1.5 million of duty and taxes in anti-smuggling drives during last two days.

Deputy Director Shahid Jan told Customs Today that during the course of anti-smuggling activities in last two days Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation Rawalpindi has seized Rs 550,000 of 500 kilograms of foriegn origon smuggled steel concrete nails, 450 sticks of foreign origin king size pine light filter cigarettes and 398 kilogram of foreign origin children sweaters involving Rs 670,000 of duty taxes and also seized the offending vehicles bus no JB-2005. While during another operation the anti-smuggling team recovered 810 kilograms of foreign origin smuggled ladies cloth heaving worth of Rs 400,000 involving Rs 280,000 duty taxes from bus no LZV-0090.

He added that Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation Rawalpindi during last two days has also recovered Rs 460,000 of smuggled 2 LEDs 32” full HD and 685 kilograms of foreign origin ladies cloth involving Rs 335,000 of duty and taxes from a bus no LZJ-6882, while Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation Rawalpindi in another operation against the smuggling has also seized Rs 250,000 of 50 sticks foreign origin Benson and Hedges special cigarettes and 32 kilograms of cloth involving Rs 315,000 of duty and taxes during the anti-smuggling drives in last two days.
