Excise recovers 1,000 bottles of alcohol, huge quantity of drugs in FY 2014-15

LAHORE: The Punjab Excise and Taxation Department has recovered a huge quantity of narcotics, including heroin, during the year 2014-15.

According to Excise and Taxation Officer Lateef Anjum, the Excise Narcotics Cell achieved its target for the fiscal year 2014-15, in which they recovered excise duty on sale of alcohol from permits holders. During the last year, the Excise Narcotics Cell also recovered 15 kilogrammes of heroin worth millions of rupees and 10 kilogrammes of charas from different accused persons during raids in Lahore.

Liquor, special fake and poisonous liquor, was also recovered from the drug mafia in the city. A total of 1,000 bottles were disposed of during the last year. Toxic injections and other relevant medicines were also recovered during this period.

Excise Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, Excise Secretary Ali Tahir and Excise DG Ahmad Aziz Tarar appreciated the achievements of the department.
