Excise seals 325 commercial, residential properties in Multan

MULTAN: The Excise and Taxation Department has sealed 325 commercial and residential properties in five days during an operation against property tax defaulters.

As per the details, the Excise and Taxation’s Property Branch issued more than 1,000 final notices to the property owners for the payment of tax.

The department formed four different teams in the supervision of Excise and Taxation official Fakhar Zaman Qureshi for taking action against defaulters in Multan city.

Multan city has been divided into four towns for taking action against the defaulters, and four different teams under the supervision of Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO) Masood Qureshi are conducting raids and sealing properties of tax defaulters.

The Excise Department was assigned the target of Rs 360 million for the tax year 2014-15. In this regard, the department collected Rs 280 million in the first eight months of the fiscal year 2014-15. The department collected revenue of Rs 31 million during the month of February alone.

Excise and Taxation Multan Director Jaam Siraaj has issued special directives to take stern action against defaulters, besides registering cases against them.
