Lahore: Excise seizes documents of 240 vehicles during road checking

LAHORE: The Punjab Excise and Taxation Department has seized documents of 240 defaulting vehicles during a crackdown.

Excise Motor Branch is facing heavy shortfall in revenue collection because of taxes by Federal Board of Revenue in the wake of transfer fee and withholding taxes. Due to heavy amount of these taxes sale and purchase of used very vehicles has decreased.

According to details, Director Motor branch Suhail Arshad has formed eight special teams to take action against defaulters. Excise motor branch formed many checkpoints at different points of the city to keep check on defaulting vehicles. Director Motor branch Suhail Arshad is very vigilant in this regard and has strictly directed the officers to not spare any person in default.

In road checking on Friday and Saturday excise teams checked hundreds of vehicles and seized documents of 240 vehicles. Most the vehicles were found token tax defaulter while excise also seized some vehicles as well.

Excise and Taxation department formed checkpoints in entry and exit points of the city. Documents of the defaulters were seized at Jail Road, Liberty Chowk Gulberg Ferozpur Road Multan Road, Thokar Niaz Baig, Wapda Town, Defense Housing Authority, Bund Road Shahdra and Sagian Bridge.
