Excise starts probe against suspended officials

LAHORE: The Excise and Taxation Department has started investigation against officials who were suspended over corruption and irregularities.

Departmental action will be taken against these officials after completion of investigation. As many as 18 officials have already been suspended. These officials were suspended on corruption and mismanagement charges. They were involved in manipulation and tempering in token tax record. They use to manipulate the life time token tax and clearance of token taxes defaulter of the vehicles.

The Excise and Taxation director general has suspended data entry operators Adil, Muhammad Imran, Adeel Zaheer, Atif, Muhammad Idrees, Imran Aslam, Khurram Aftab, Kiran Ayub, Muhammad Shahbaz, Muhammad Zahid and Muhammad Ali.

Data entry operator Adil Rafique who was working in Rawalpindi motor branch had also been suspended. Saifullah Khan was working as data entry operator in Rahim Yar Khan. The DG also ordered to suspend five clerks from motor branch Lahore, including Abu Huraira, Faryad Gujjar, Muhammad Jamil, Muhammad Farooq and Rana Shabeer.

Further action will be taken against these persons after completion of departmental inquiry.
