Excise, Taxation department resumes computerized number plates

DI KHAN: After a long-wait of three years, the citizen will start getting computerized number plates of their vehicles from next month regularly, says the Excises and Taxation Officer (ETO) Engineer Asghar Khan Wazir.

“Our team work had bore fruit, succeeding to get all pending computerized number plats of vehicles in the district from Peshawar and from January, people may get regular computerized number plats and registration copy of their vehicles in minutes,” the ETO told media while distributing pending computerized number plates among vehicles’ owners here on Thursday.

He said that supply of those computerized number plates to the district had been suspended since 2014 for various reasons, but the issue was taken up at all relevant forums with concerned officials and now it stood resolved.

He said that computerized number plates of around 6000 vehicles had been supplied to the district from Peshawar while the remaining number were arriving in gradual manner, augmenting chances to clear entire backlog and set in a regular practice to provide number plates within scheduled timeframe.

He also appealed property’s owners to come forward and take part in socio-economic development of the country by depositing taxes timely.

He added paying tax was a legal and moral obligation, so it should be paid timely, adding various teams had been formed to take strict action against tax defaulters and in this regard the department would not spare anyone if he or she was found involved in tax evasion He said that the department had enhanced checking in the area to detect vehicles, which were plying on roads without payment of token tax.

He added the credit goes to all employees who worked day and night to resolving applicants’ problems amicably.
