SIALKOT: The Special Recovery Teams of the Excise and Taxation Department have started crackdown on about 17,000 habitual tax evaders after compiling their fresh lists under the supervision of the local Excise and Taxation Officers (ETOs) in Gujranwala division’s six districts including Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din, Hafizabad and Gujranwala.
The senior E&T officials told CT that the E&T Department had given a weeklong final deadline to the habitual tax evaders for the payment of their prolonged arrears by sending them the final recovery notices, but they are still ignoring the notices.
The officials said the E&T recovery teams have also started sealing their properties for non-payment of their arrears in the region.
