Karachi: Excise Dept to create special ‘narcotics wing’

KARACHI:  Secretary Department of Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Badar Jamil has said that the government is creating a special ‘narcotics wing’ in the Excise Department.

Talking to Customs Today Badar Jamil said that a separate director general will assumed the charge of this wing, and a full fledged director will also be appointed.

He said that main objective of this cell will be to act on secret information, arresting the accused and other matters related to narcotics.

He further said we are expecting announcement of narcotics wing in coming budget of fiscal year 2015-16 and after that we will take practical measures to create this special Cell.

Replying to a question the Secretary Nartocis said that all vehicles of BOL are registered and we have all the record of vehicles.  To another query Badar Jamil said that we are discussing our financial matters with federal government because federal government debt rupees sixty nine crore from our accounts. He said that government says the reason behind this deduction is that we did not achieve our target on Withholding Tax,

He said that we are already holding talks with federal government in this regard and hopeful that matter will be decided soon.
