KARACHI: The All Pakistan Exporters Association has requested the Supreme Court to take suo moto notice of the strike of goods transporters, causing billions of rupees loss to the national economy.
According to the details, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Rice Exporters Association, Readymade Garments, Cloth Merchant along with other association held a joint press conference at the Karachi Press Club against the stoppage of exports due to truck strike and ban of movement of heavy traffic in the city.
President Karachi Industrial Forum Javed Balwani said that over Rs 214 billion transactions have been affected due to the goods transporters strike which is a big dent in the country’s economy.
He said that daily import and export of goods worth billions of rupees have been affected and wheel of the country’s economy has stalled due to the strike which needs to be addressed and problem must be sort out at any cost.
In the joint press conference, Muhammad Zubair Motiwala said due to the shortage space at the both KPT and Port Muhammad Bin Qasim the vessels are not allowed to berth, Industries have already closed and all the temporary workers has been expelled as well as for the permanent workers the owners have no money.
He said industrialist have been bankrupted and strike has ruined the country’s economy in this case the only option is left to knock the door of the Supreme Court of Pakistan as government is seen nowhere to sort out this matter.
