Collector Customs Exports, Port Mohammad Bin Qasim (PMBQ) Syed Fawad Ali Shah highlighted the overall exports of Pakistan with historical trends.

He said the Government of Pakistan, through Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and Pakistan Customs has taken many initiatives and introduced many schemes for facilitation of exporters and to boost exports of the country.

These include DTRE, manufacturing bond, export oriented unit schemes as well as temporary importation scheme under SRO 492(I)/2009 dated 29.3.2009.

However, there are extremely underutilized as the number of exporters making use of these schemes can be counted on fingers.

Moreover, despite being applicable to all sectors these export facilitation schemes are being largely used by textile sector.

The exports of a country are dependent upon the performance of its SME exporters. Out of the prevalent export facilitation schemes, the DTRE is the most convenient for the SMEs. The presentations were followed by a very interactive Q&A session.

Director Reforms and Automation Sanaullah Abro shared details of automation drive and future initiatives.

While thanking the audience for their participation, Chief Collector Customs Enforcement South Dr. Saifuddin Junejo, assured them of more such events and at their request nominated a focal person for addressing issues of exporters relating to DTRE scheme.
