Exports surge to 209,461 tonnes: Cement sales from Southern units increase to 411,586 tonnes marginally up

LAHORE: The Southern units of cement have witnessed huge increase in local sales during February 2015 as 411,586 tonnes sales were recorded against 369,665 tonnes of February 2014.

As per the official data, exports from Southern units also increased to 209,461 tonnes during February against 201,993 tonnes during the same month of last year. However, cement exports from North witnessed 34.19 percent decline from 381,487 tonnes during February 2014 to 251,049 tonnes during February this year. Total despatches increased from 2.731 million tonnes during February 14 to 2.758 million tonnes during February 15, showing marginal increase of 0.97 percent.

During the month of February 15, local sales of cement posted healthy growth of 6.96 per cent percent while exports showed substantial decline by 21.08 percent, resulting in an overall nominal growth of 0.97 percent compared to same month of last fiscal year.

The overall domestic and exports volumes were 2,297,568 tonnes and 460,510 tonnes respectively during February 15 compared to 2,148,083 tonnes and 583,480 tonnes during February 14. The domestic sales in north during February 15 were 1,885,982 tonnes compared to the domestic sales of 1,778,418 tons during same month last year showing growth of 6.05 percent.
