NEW YORK: Facebook is testing a phone app for smartphones; the news came to light when an image from the app got leaked. Which isn’t a surprise as Facebook often tests apps and leaks are common.

The app in question will utilize the massive phone number database Facebook has. It will act as a Caller ID and will give some competition to similar apps like Contactive, TrueCaller and more. When and if the app becomes available and manages to be successful, it will definitely give a boost to Facebook’s user engagement.

According to a source, Phone isn’t the only app the company is testing as multiple apps are in development. However, we should realize that different apps are always being tested by developers but not all of them make it to the market.
