Faisalabad Adjudication decides 28 seizure cases worth Rs42.231m

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication has decided 28 seizure cases forwarded by Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) and Customs Intelligence and Investigation in their various anti-smuggling activities.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Muhammad Adnan Akram announced judgment in one seizure case involving Rs 23.500 million during the month of April 2019.

Whereas Additional Collector Asma Hameed settled 27 different seizure cases in favor of tax department and issued Order in Originals (ONOs) in favour of taxpayers after adjudication process involving duty and taxes of Rs18.731 million.

Pendency of the various seizure cases has been increased due to hindrance from respondents in the hearing and unnecessary delay from lawyers in the cases. Almost 54 seizure cases of Rs 955.608 million amount are pending in Customs Adjudication for hearing.
