Faisalabad AFU seizes 62 smuggled mobile phones, accessories

FAISALABAD: The Customs Air Freight Unit (AFU) has seized more than 62 smuggled mobile phones and accessories at Faisalabad International Airport during checking.

A customs team under the supervision of Deputy Collector Rizwan Khan, comprising Superintendent Zahid Raza Bukhari, Inspector Muhammad Munir Ahmad, Muhammad Asif Nawaz and Ahmad Hassan intercepted a passenger who was coming from Dubai through Flight No FZ-343 and checked his luggage.

During the checking, the customs team found mobile sets including Samsung galaxy S3, Samsung S4, Samsung Galaxy S6, LG, and other brands. The officials seized mobile phones under Section 168 of the Customs Act, 1969, violation of Section 2(s), read with Section 3(1), and (3) of the Import and Export Control Act, 1969, as he was carrying the phones without having any valid receipt.

The value of these mobile phones and accessories has been estimated at Rs 620,000 involving duty/taxes Rs 116,441, sources said.
