Faisalabad AFU seizes smuggled gold coins

FAISALABAD: The Customs Air Freight Unit (AFU) seized 80 grams (8 pieces) of smuggled fine gold coins having Serial No; C-182661 to C-182668 Swiss brand at Faisalabad International Airport.

According to details, AFU recovered gold coins during luggage inspection of flight No; FDB-343 arrived from Dubai. These Coins were being smuggled from Dubai to Faisalabad.

Sources told Customs Today the AFU team under the supervision of Deputy Collector Airport Traffic Muhammad Rizwan Khan comprised Inspector Masood Saeed Chohan, Khalid Ashraf Noor, Muhammad Saleem Shahid, Muhammad Asghar, Ishaq Jalil, Sepoys Liaqat Ali suspected a passenger named Muhammad Rizwan s/o Abdul Hameed Khan a resident of Old Civil Lines, Sargodha having passport No; AL9894013.

The AFU team searched his luggage and found gold coins in hand carry bag. The suspect was asked to show receipt of gold coins but he failed to provide required documents.

The AFU team seized the gold coins under section-168 of the Customs Act, 1969 and registered a case of smuggling against the accused. The case has been forwarded to Customs I&P for further investigation.
