Faisalabad Air Freight Unit seizes 66 smuggled mobile phones

FAISALABAD: Customs Air Freight Unit (AFU) has seized more than 66 pieces of smuggled cellular phones at Faisalabad International Airport during checking process Qatar Airways flight QTR- 622.

According to sources, the AFU a customs under the supervision of Deputy Collector Rizwan Khan, comprising Superintendent Zahid Raza Bukhari, Inspector Muhammad Munir Ahmad, Muhammad Asif Nawaz and Ahmad Hassan intercepted a passenger and checked the invoices of the cellular phones they were carrying in black bag. The Customs team asked the passenger to show receipt or invoices but he failed to provide any relevant documents.

During the checking, the customs team found mobile set Sony X Peraiz- 3 (14 nos), LG D- 850 New (25- nos ), Samsung Galaxy A7 (9-nos), mobile wrist watch (8 nos), and having in different brands. The AFU seized mobile under section 168 of the Customs Act 1969.

The value of these cellular phones was estimated at Rs 1,075,000 involving customs duty Rs 211,894, sources said.

And, it was found that the passengers were carrying these cellular phones without having any valid purchase receipt or invoices.
