Faisalabad ASO clutches smuggled plastic film rolls worth Rs 1.3m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized 5,395 kilogram of foreign origin plastic film rolls worth Rs 2.158 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 1.37 million.

Following information conveyed through Customs Intelligence Director Muhammad Saud Imran, the ASO team intercepted a mini truck bearing Registration No. LES-5781 near Gatwala Toll Plaza Shiekhpura Road, Faisalabad and recovered plastic film rolls.

The ASO team asked the owner of goods named Muhammad Tahir Shehzad and driver Muhammad Nadeem to produce documents regarding the payment of taxes but they remained failed; therefore, customs official took the goods into their custody and served notice upon them.

After considerable passage of time no one appeared before the authority to prove the legal import of the vehicle so the customs seized the plastic rolls under Section 156 (1)90 and 78 of Customs Act, 1969 and forwarded the case to adjudication for further legal action.

The ASO team comprising Senior Intelligence Officer Muhammad Tahir Iqbal, Intelligence Officer Muhammad Saleem, Main Muhammad Yousaf, Sepoys Mukhtar Ahmed, Muhammad Sikander, Ghulam Ghous, Muhammal Iqbal and others participated in the raid.
