Faisalabad ASO confiscates 4,445 yards of smuggled fabric

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) Faisalabad has seized 4,445 yards of smuggled printed cloth worth Rs 671,250 in an action.

As per details, ASO team following information received through Collector Tuaseef Ahmad Qureshi, intercepted a mini truck bearing Registration GAM-3486.

The officials conducted search and recovered 4,445 yards of smuggled printed cloth weighing 495 kilogram. The customs officials asked the driver to produce the documents regarding the legal possession of the items but he remained fail to do so on which custom seized the items and also impounded the vehicle.

Customs issued notice to the accused person Muhammad Waqas to appear before the department if he had any legal document against the seized items. After a considerable passage of time no one appeared before the seizing agency to claim ownership of seized fabric, as well as no proof of its legal import/lawful possession was produced and later case was forwarded to adjudication.

ASO team comprising Superintendent Zahid Bukhari, Inspector Safder Ali, Amir Mumtaz Bajwa, Mehmood Ahmad and others conducted operation.
