Faisalabad ASO confiscates contraband goods worth Rs 20.9m in April

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) seized smuggled goods worth Rs 20.92 million during April of current fiscal year 2015-16.

According to monthly seizure report, the main seizure items include vehicles, cloth, Indian tea, tyres and tubes, auto parts, cigarettes, gutka, miscellaneous items and tempered vehicles. The Faisalabad ASO registered more than 21 seizure cases of anti-smuggling during April.

ASO Additional Collector Muhammad Saeed Asad said that the numbers of cases were declining due to strict monitoring and timely actions by the officials.

As per details, the ASO impounded nine non-duty paid vehicles worth Rs 9.966 million and three vehicles, which were being used for transportation of smuggled items, worth Rs 3.15 million during the said period.

Furthermore, the ASO confiscated 4870 kilogram of cloth Worth Rs 2.945 million, 4080kg Indian tea worth Rs 924,800, tyres and tubes worth Rs 416,566, auto parts worth Rs 257,450, 299 carton of cigarettes worth Rs 298,252, gutka worth Rs 219,675 and others miscellaneous goods worth Rs 2.655 million during the said period.
